Pulp Fiction:
Casting:
·
Linda Kaye as "Shot Woman"
Finance:
They had a
budget of around $8 million.
In box
office alone, they made back $214 million.
They signed
Tarantino for $1 million.
Tarantino
and Bender bought the script to Jersey Film. Jersey got a share of the project and the right to shop the
script to a studio. It didn’t work so Bender decided to buy the script to Miramax.
Miramax completely financed it with $8 million.
Filming:
It started being filmed in September 1993.Filmers
had worked with Tarantino so they had good relationships. They had to make a
movie with an $8 million budget look like a movie with a $25 million budget,
which was actually pulled off successfully. The costumes used were inspired by
a French man – suits of armour.
Music:
Tarantino used surf music, rock music and pop music
in the production of Pulp Fiction. They used a variety of well-known and
unusual songs to make the movie ‘cool’.
Firstly, Quentin Tarantino had to create the plot and the idea behind this movie. Once they had perfected it, they had to make sure they recruited the right team for the job, therefore casting was next on the list. As it is such a big film, they had to hire great actors, which was not cheap. This was the first part of money they spent on this film. Then the production - the finalising what the film will actually say and do. After this the casting got to work and they filmed the movie. This is where most of the money is spent for examples locations, costumes, hiring of cameras and other equipment needed to make it as high quality as possible. This took time as well as money which is really important to consider. Once filmed, the crew could then put music over some parts of the movie. This cost money to do as they had to get a formal agreement on usage rights for each song. Once they had organised and finished the whole film, they could release it and put it in box office. This is where they start to gain sales to be able to break even from all the money they had spent on the pre-production and filming of the movie.
