Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising money from a large number of people who each contribute a relatively small amount, typically via the Internet. This helps a business to grow and start up their products.

Sometimes the people who have raised the finance will just do it to support the new developing brand or product. However, in most  cases, those people would receive benefits for example: Getting a percentage of the business profits, getting merchandise from the business or getting their names in the credits of whatever the business has achieved due to their help.

Finance:

They had a budget of around $8 million.
In box office alone, they made back $214 million.
They signed Tarantino for $1 million.
Tarantino and Bender bought the script to Jersey Film. Jersey got a share of the project and the right to shop the script to a studio. It didn’t work so Bender decided to buy the script to Miramax. Miramax completely financed it with $8 million.

Filming:

It started being filmed in September 1993.Filmers had worked with Tarantino so they had good relationships. They had to make a movie with an $8 million budget look like a movie with a $25 million budget, which was actually pulled off successfully. The costumes used were inspired by a French man – suits of armour.

Music:

Tarantino used surf music, rock music and pop music in the production of Pulp Fiction. They used a variety of well-known and unusual songs to make the movie ‘cool’.

Firstly, Quentin Tarantino had to create the plot and the idea behind this movie. Once they had perfected it, they had to make sure they recruited the right team for the job, therefore casting was next on the list. As it is such a big film, they had to hire great actors, which was not cheap. This was the first part of money they spent on this film. Then the production - the  finalising what the film will actually say and do. After this the casting got to work and they filmed the movie. This is where most of the money is spent for examples locations, costumes, hiring of cameras and other equipment needed to make it as high quality as possible. This took time as well as money which is really important to consider. Once filmed, the crew could then put music over some parts of the movie. This cost money to do as they had to get a formal agreement on usage rights for each song. Once they had organised and finished the whole film, they could release it and put it in box office. This is where they start to gain sales to be able to break even from all the money they had spent on the pre-production and filming of the movie.

Wordmap of Pre Production

This is a word map of different types of pre production and what each of them need to succeed. This has made me think about all the different stages that have to be perfected before the submission of a product or a service.

Pre production is work done on a product, especially a film or broadcast programme, before full-scale production begins.

Hi, I'm Theo Rubins.

My main interest is fashion (shoes and clothes). I buy and sell clothes and shoes to make money.

I am starting a clothing brand, therefore investing the money I have made from clothes and shoes into printing t-shirts which I am designing myself.

I have done work experience at LADbible (leading social media page on Facebook and big on Instagram too), visiting their London and Manchester offices. I have also done work experience at Burtons biscuits (Marylands, Jammy Dodgers ETC.) and Copa90 which is a footballing social media page.

I have learned so much about social media at these places, and have great experience working in an office too. I feel extremely well prepared for this course and even ready to skip university and go straight to work after the exams. I have learned all about marketing, advertising, design and programmatic.

Pre-production evaluation

Evaluating the effectiveness of pre-production documentation is vital in ensuring that the final version that is sent to the production team...
